Bug Description

The system is a Lenovo ThinkCentre M58 6139 A4G purchased in March 2010. There is no sound from the built-in speakers. With headphones attached sound works fine. I'm using Ubuntu 10.10.
General comment: I also run Windows 7 on this computer. There was also an initial problem with sound on first installation. This could be solved easily by downloading and installing the appropriate driver from Lenovo's website.

My problem occurs in all the versions of Ubuntu that I have tried on this computer, starting with 8.04. I've been wandering around Google for several months to find a solution for Ubuntu without success. It seems strange to me that this is the case. For me, Ubuntu cannot really be a worthwhile replacement for Windows, as long as you run into this kind of problem.
