Binary package hint: firefox

I'm running Firefox on Ubuntu 10.10 - Maverick Meerkat. YouTube "View Full Screen" mode causes video playing to freeze. Functionality does not return after exiting this mode and returning to normal embedded view. Page must be refreshed before playability returns.

Looks like a duplicate of an existing bug i worked with. Try this,

---MAKE SURE ALL FIREFOX INSTANCES ARE CLOSED!---
1) In a terminal type this exactly: metacity --replace & exit

2) Start up firefox and try viewing the video again.

Wow that worked! Thankyou.

So what did that command actually do? Is this something that could be permanently fixed in Ubuntu/Firefox so future users don't have to run the command?

The command made metacity the default window manager instead of compiz. Compiz is having difficulty getting along with intel video cards. As i thought, this is a duplicate of bug #664265

Hopefully they will be fixing it ASAP. Thanks for reporting. Marking as duplicate.

PS: To make the effect permanent you need to disable the "effects" in ubuntu. Otherwise you will have the same problem when you reboot the machine.

Right click the desktop> Change desktop background> Go to the visual effects tab and select none.
