Bug Description
Binary package hint: ubiquity
I installed fresh 10.10 from USB stick, during installation I choose manual disk partitioning and made 2 partitions:
/ and swap
During installation, my HDD was referred as /dev/sdb (obviously, USB drive was /dev/sda). After installation, system failed to mount swap because swap was set as /dev/sdb2 in /etc/fstab
:~$ cat /etc/fstab
# /etc/fstab: static file system information.
# <file system> <mount point> <type> <options> <dump> <pass>
proc /proc proc nodev,noexec,nosuid 0 0
# / was on /dev/sdb1 during installation
UUID=2f5c538b-
/dev/sdb2 none swap sw 0 0
Also HDD became /dev/sda (I removed flash drive).
"/" was mounted OK, because it was referred by its UUID.
Expected behavior:
Swap is set in /etc/fstab by its UUID during installation and is correctly mount during system boot, as this now works for "/" (see my fstab file)
This issue is USB stick installation related, if you install from CD then HDD drive will always(during install and during normal boot) be /dev/sda
