In Icon view, especially 400%, there is too much whitespace

Bug Description
Binary package hint: nautilus
Especially at 400% icon view, there is so much whitespace that it looks a little ridiculous.
Please refer to attached screenshot of my laptop's 1280x800 display. There's room to two images side-by-side at 400%, and probably 4 images side-by-side at 200%.
Is is possible that the whitespace around the icon was mistakenly included in the percentage zoom calculation?
