Hello larkguit, thank you for taking the time to file this bug report and help us make Ubuntu better!

I believe this may be a transient error. This error message implies that the group database may have been locked:

Adding group `postfix' (GID 133) ...
groupadd: cannot lock /etc/group; try again later.
addgroup: `/usr/sbin/groupadd -g 133 postfix' returned error code 10. Exiting.

Its likely that this will not occur if you attempt the update again.

If it does, you may want to try rebooting, of if that is not an option, try to find the process that has the file locked. You can use the 'fuser' command like this:

$ sudo fuser -vu /var/log/messages
[sudo] password for clint:
                     USER PID ACCESS COMMAND
/var/log/messages: syslog 929 F.... (syslog)rsyslogd

Only replace '/var/log/messages' with '/etc/group'

Closing as Invalid. If you do find that the file is not locked and the error continues, please feel free to reopen this bug report.

Changed in postfix (Ubuntu):
status: New → Invalid
