Icon too large + wrong icon displayed

Bug Description

Every now and then the icon showing the current connection status in the panel is displayed far too large (see screenshot). In addition, the wrong icon is displayed. When taking the screenshot I had a wired connection (the tooltip in the screenshot is German and reads "Wired connection 'Auto eth0' is active").

I did not yet find a away to reliably reproduce the described behaviour. However, it seems that the wrong icon is only shown directly after I started a new session. When the network status changes (i.e. if I disconnect and reconnect manually) the correct icon in the correct size is shown.

$ lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS
Release: 10.04

$ apt-cache policy network-manager-gnome
network-manager-gnome:

  Version table:

(I filed this bug under the package "network-manager-applet" although /usr/bin/nm-applet belongs to "network-manager-gnome" on my system. However, in the bug tracker seems to be no package "network-manager-gnome".)

This is most likely another case of bug 439448.
