Bug Description

Binary package hint: gwibber

After resuming my Lucid Lynx 64-bit installation from hibernation, Gwibber stops working. The frontend continues to run and remains responsive, but the contents are not refreshed any longer. Choosing the Gwibber -> Refesh menu item does nothing. Neither does choosing Gwibber -> Quit. I have to kill it manually from a command line.

When this happens, a ps command reveals that gwibber-service is no longer running. It must have crashed during the hibernation, or the resumption from hibernation.

Obvioulsy, gwibber-service should not crash. But if it does, the front end should notice, and restart it. And the Quit command should of course always work, whether or not the back end is running.

Please let me know how I can help to debug this problem!

the actual problem is in desktopcouch bug 522538. gwibber 2.32 no longer uses desktop-couch(moved to sqlite) so this bug is fixed. i dont expect the fix for desktopcouch in lucid though. you can install 2.32 from gwibber ppa https://launchpad.net/~gwibber-team/+archive/ppa

Changed in gwibber (Ubuntu):

Lucid is an LTS version! You can't force people to upgrade from an LTS version (or use experimental repositories), the whole point of it is that it receives Long Term Support. Surely that means that bugs should be solved in Lucid too, as long as it is still supported?
