shared folders doesn't think samba is installed

Binary package hint: samba

Whenever trying to share folders with the shared folders from the system menu, it constantly asks to install samba, even if it is already installed.

The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release - Oneiric Ocelot.
