Bug Description

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Sometimes when certain tracks are played all I hear is static/cracking sound with basically no sound at all.

If I restart rhythmbox and play the same song/s again, they will play fine (No static).

I'm having the same problem. It doesn't happen very often, but if I restart the track, it plays fine. I'm using Rhythmbox 0.13.1 on Maverick / amd64.

Im having the same problem.

When i first play these certain files- they will play fine. I will then click on another song and the cracking begins and the song that i was previously playing continues to play with the newly selected songs. Once this crackling noise begins i have no control over stopping the songs from playing and i have to restart rhythmbox

There are particular files that always do this when i play them, however if i play them in another player like exile they work fine.

Maybe its because of the high bit rate? I also use an external hard drive.

Hopefully you guys can fix this because i love rthymbox

I'm noticing that particular files are more likely to do this as well and they all seem to be Ogg Vorbis files. If I stop the file that's playing crackly and then start it again, it usually is fine. I wonder if this is really a GStreamer problem.

I also have this problem, and the most important thing is that it happens with the exact same files every time. I've checked the files with other players, so the files are not corrupted.

Thanks for the report, it has been some time without any response or feedback in this bug report and we are wondering if this is still an issue for you with the latest release of Ubuntu the Natty Narwhal, May you please test with that version and comment back if you're still having or not the issue? Please have a look at http://www.ubuntu.com/download to know how to install that version. Thanks in advance and sorry for the late response.

I'm not running Natty, so I can't help. Still on Maverick.
