Bug Description

Problem affecting Linux Mint 10 RC, Kernel 2.6.35-22-generic. (Same problem exists in Ubuntu 10.10.) The problem was not present in Ubuntu 9.10 on this machine.

This problem is occurring on an IBM Thinkpad R50e 1834 S7G.

When using the IBM Trackpoint, on-screen movement of the cursor briefly freezes. The effect repeats at intervals of about 5 seconds, accompanied by garbled audio during the trackpoint's frozen state. The problem is persistent, irrespective of numerous reboots of the machine.

So I mark as duplicate of 573688, seems that there's a workaround, but on first i acconseil you to make a full backup of all important data.

Hello Fabio,
Thank you for your effort in very promptly investigating this symptom.

This machine is, at the moment, used specifically for testing and therefore has no important personal data stored.

Thanks to the community's talented coders, I successfully run Ubuntu and Mint almost faultlessly on other Lenovo/Thinkpad machines.

If you have time to suggest what I should do next, I would be grateful.

Best wishes,
Philip.
