Links outside Konqueror open a new instance and not a new tab

Bug Description

I configured Konqueror to open links from other application in the same opened fenster in a new tab.
But clicking on an external link open a new instance af Konqueror.
That happens with KDE-3.5.5 and Edgy, not with the same version on Dapper.
(amd64, Ubuntu-Edgy, KDE-3.5.5 from Edgy repository).

Where have you configured this?

In the konqueror's web-menu: 'open links on new tabs' and all the advanced options are on.

The option "Open links in new tab instead of in new window" refers to links inside Konqueror only.

So you did not "configure Konqueror to open links ___from other applications___ in the same opened window in a new tab."

I cannot confirm that this has been the case with Dapper either.

From which application are you opening the link? It's probably an application setting then maybe and/or you've configured something else differently on your Dapper install.

Oh.. I've not seen the "Open as tab in existing Konqueror when URL is called externally". I have not checked this here.

Now that I've checked/enabled it here, it works for links from Akregator for example. The link gets opened in the (probably oldest) Konqueror instance I've open.

So, sorry for misunderstanding, but finally I cannot confirm it here - using Edgy, dist-upgraded from Dapper.

O.K., but what can I do?
I tried it normally from knewsticker.
The configuration file ~/.kde/share/config/konquerorrc shows:
...
KonquerorTabforExternalURL=true
MMBOpensTab=true
NewTabsInFront=false
OpenAfterCurrentPage=true
PermanentCloseButton=true
PopupsWithinTabs=true
...
but it doesn't work.

It also works as expected here from knewsticker.

Sorry, I've no idea how to debug this further..

Solved!
I replace ~/.kde/config/kdeglobalsrc with a new one and now it works as aspected.
Thank you.

Do you mean ~/.kde/share/config/kdeglobals instead? I have not the file you have.

Additional, it would be useful to have a diff of the old and new one.

Have you installed Kubuntu anew or upgraded from Dapper?
