Bug Description

Binary package hint: osynctool

Hi,

after upgrading from Ubuntu 10.04 (AMD_64t) to 10.10 (AMD_64) it looks as if the msynctool has been removed and osynctool now does this job.
However I'm not able to sync my HTC mobile with Evolution anymore
I even deleted my old partnership between the mobile and the Ubuntu System.
I tried to create a new one but this was not possible as osynctool only shows the evo2-sync plugin avaliable.
I expected to find the synce-opensynce-plugin with the osynctool --listplugins as well but it lists only the evo2-sync plugin.

I have the following packages installed:
osynctool 0.39-1
opensync-plugin-synce 0.15-2
synce-sync-engine 0.15-2
synce-trayicon 0.15-1
synce-gnomevfs 0.13-2
synce-gvfs 0.4-0ubuntu0~ppa1~maverick1
synce-multisync-plugin 0.9.0-7ubuntu1
synce-hal 0.15-1
syncevolution 1.0+ds1~beta2a-1ubuntu1
synce-ui 1.0+ds1~beta2a-1ubuntu1
libsynce0 0.15-1
libsynce-dev 0.15-1
opensyncutils 0.39-4
libopensync1exp7 0.39-4
libopensync1exp7-dev 0.39-4
libopensync0 0.22-4ubuntu0.1

A remove and reinstall of these packages didn´t solved the problem.

Regards

Dirk

Well, opensync-0.39 which is in 10.10 does not work with synce, so opensync is pretty much useless in 10.10. This was attempted to roll back before the release, but there was not enough time left.

Possibly this could be done via -updates or in a point release, I don't know.

Thanks for the fast answear Michael.
Is there any procedure where I can do this roll back prior to an update or point release on my system ?
I tried to complete remove opensynce and replace it with the version from the Lucid PPA using the

http://ppa.launchpad.net/synce/ppa/ubuntu
and
http://ppa.launchpad.net/synce/ubuntu

I tried these PPAs using with the Lucid, Karmic and Jaunty release extension.
It will install opensynce / msynctools from these PPA´s without errors but when I try to create a partnership with the synce-sync plugin I get a segmentation fault error.

Is there any way to use a working opensync that supports the synce-sync plugin together with 10.10 ?

Regards

Dirk

It's really lame that upgrading to Maverick leaves users of the opensync synce plugin out to dry. Even Microsoft rarely screws people over so thoroughly. Is anyone going to fix it?

Hi all,

this is really hitting me hard as this was the one and only option to backup my contacts using ubuntu.
Is there any procedure known on how to revert the changes or get things going?

Thanks a lot in advance.
