Bug Description

When I press F4, cover flow doesn't show. I posted the same thing in Ubuntuforums: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1603623

It just doesn't show at all, I get no blank screen or nothing. :(

Can anyone help?

Is this a bug?

Hello,

You just didn't install nautilus-elementary correctly. It s half upgraded.

It's apt-get dist-upgrade and not just upgrade.

@ammonkey:
I installed nautilus-elements as described in the instructions and only get a black box after pressing F4. Inside I can only see the filename without the preview.

After pressing F4 again, the box disappears. By pressing F4 again, the whole nautilus-screen crashes.

@MrPotter It's a know bug with intel hardware, same occur with Unity.
Add "export CLUTTER_VBLANK=none" to /etc/environment (without the quotes)

Can I suggest it's not just Intel, it does an instant crash with my Nvidia hardware. With Intel I just get a blank box.
Adding "export CLUTTER_VBLANK=none" (without quotes) does nothing for me in either system.

I can't do nothing about this kind of bug. It's a hardware problem: your card or its drivers doesn't support 3d. I got a nvidia too and it just works fine. Anyway u'll see the same problems in unity/gnome-shell etc (whatever use 3d).

For intel hardware it can be fixed with "export CLUTTER_VBLANK=none"

nautilus-elementary can be compiled without clutter:
./autogen.sh --prefix=/usr --disable-clutter-view
make && sudo make install

 I can't start clutterflow at all.
I have added "export CLUTTER_VBLANK=none" to /etc/environment, which made clutterflow work in banshee, but I still cannot get the pane to appear at all in Nautilus.
I even tried to reinstall Nautilus Elementary (ppa-purge, dist-upgrade).
I run Natty.

Same problem here, tried to purge the ppa and rinstall it with your method (http://ammonkey.posterous.com/the-right-way-to-install-nautilus-elementary).
By pressing F4, nothing at all happens, it just stays as it.
I checked in the view menu, pressing F4 checks and unchecks the Clutterflow Mode, so the F4 of my keyboard is recognised by the system / program.
I tried to add this line "export CLUTTER_VBLANK=none" to /etc/environment and nothing changed, even after several reboots.

Which tests could we try to check what is wrong here ? What information do you need ?
Thanks a lot in advance.
