Bug Description
I installed Ubuntu 10.10 desktop edition 64bit on my Asus Eee PC 1005PE for a ride as the Atom N450 is said to be supporting 64bit. Everything is working surprisingly great except for this:
When I start the update manager and it finds packages I click on Install Updates.
An authentication window pops up.
I give in the correct password but the authentication window doesn't dissapear. The empty field for the password entry disappears but not the authentication window itself. No error message is given - the authentication window just hangs there. Nothing happens if I wait.
When I force quit the hanging the hanging authentication window, I get back to the update manager. I click again on Install Updates, the authentication window pops up and again, the same problem.
I have to run apt-get upgrade to install updates and everything is working fine then - I give in my password and it's okay. The problem is only when I'm trying to install updates via the graphical update manager.
Machine: Asus EeePc 1005pe Netbook
OS: Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick 64bit
Update Manager Package: 1:0.142.20
Hello
Can you please run in a terminal
sudo apt-get clean
then from Synaptic reinstall update-manager and update-manager-core to see if fix?
Thanks
