Bug Description
Binary package hint: wicd
After updating from Ubuntu 10.04 to 10.10, wicd/dhcpcd does not generate /etc/resolv.conf anymore. This does not depend on the connection type (wireless or wired), and is not fixed by deleting or emptying the file. The IP address is acquired without any apparent problem though.
/var/log/messages says:

I had this problem as well. Setting wicd to use dhclient instead of 'Automatic' in the DHCP Client settings fixed the problem. It should be able to use 'Automatic' though.
