Bug Description

This doesn't appear to occur at any paticular time. I've had it happen when not doing anything watching YouTube and then again when switching from another tab to the tab with the video on YouTube playing in it. I have firefox running under aoss since I couldn't get sound working otherwise.

Thank you for your bug report. Since this is occuring when using the flash plugin, and since the Macromedia Flash plugin is closed source (i.e., the Ubuntu developpers cannot go into and modify its source code to solve bugs with it), I'll have to reject this bug since Ubuntu developpers cannot do anything about it.

But Macromedia is supposed to release real soon a new version of their flash plugin (version 9), which hopefully will solve problems like this one.

status: Unconfirmed → Rejected

Would it make any difference that this didn't happen on Dapper with Firefox 1.5 and that I didn't have to use aoss to get sound then?

It also didn't happen with SwiftFox 2.0 on Dapper.

This is the crash file I got: http://www.lastedit.com/firefox/_usr_lib_firefox_firefox-bin.1000.crash

I couldn't get it to upload as an attachment so I uploaded it to my server. It's 23.8mb.

Changed the package to flash. This seems to be a flash issue not so much a firefox one.

this is a well known bug. if you wish, you can try the new flash 9 beta from adobe http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flashplayer9/

*you do not need the aoss hack anymore as flash 9 now uses alsa*
