Bug Description

In Lubuntu, the Synaptic Package Manager's "Quick Search" box is greyed out and will not accept text input. Using Ctrl+F or clicking the Search button to access the full search works fine.

Problem can be solved by installing package apt-xapian-index.
In a terminal, type:
sudo apt-get install apt-xapian-index

The auto search is disabled deliberately as it can cause users on low specification machines to think that their computer has frozen. As you see above, you can add it. I will add a further note to the documentation area about it.
