clipboard text copied from vnc session is garbled

Ubuntu 10.10 / vinagre 2.30.2-1ubuntu1

After updating to Maverick Meerkat 10.10, this fails in Vinagre:
 - copy text from vnc session: "cucu bau"
 - paste text into your machine "P1÷ " (expected result "cucu bau")

The same works in the vinagre version of 10.04 or in vncviewer.

Vnc servers used on various remote hosts:
 - realvnc, xfce, copy from mrxvt by selection, pasted by clipboard
 - realvnc, window maker, copy from xterm by selection, pasted by clipboard
 - vino (remote desktop), gnome, copy from gnome-terminal by clipboard, pasted by clipboard ; also gedit: copy by clipboard, pasted by clipboard

Not only that, but if vinagre is running somewhere on the desktop, copying and pasting from a 2nd application to a 3rd application is garbled. Even a 2nd application to that same 2nd application.
