i edit /etc/modprobe.d/radeon-kms.conf and past to that file:

options radeon modeset=0

Please provide the output of 'vlc -vv' while it fails, and the output of 'xvinfo'. But this smells a lot like a display driver problem.

i have reinstall vlc, and now it work. but i have similar trouble as in smplayer ( https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/smplayer/+bug/662377 )

I have report about some bugs with xserver-xorg-video-ati, but developers did not react on that.

with this driver in 10.04 all was ok.

Hey Ipeacocks,

Hi, have you had a chance to test if this bug is still present in natty?

If it does (and if you're the original reporter), please boot into natty
and run the command:

  apport-collect <bug-number>

which will update the bug with fresh logs and tag the bug as affecting
natty. (It is best to run this right after reproducing the problem.)
