Bug Description
Binary package hint: software-center
Many LaTeX users do not know that they need the install the TeX Live distribution in order to use LaTeX. Searching for "latex" or "tex" in the software center (of Ubuntu 10.10) only lists text editors and (La)TeX IDEs. To install the TeX itself one has to search for "tex live".

This seems fine to me, because: Software center only shows applications by default, libraries and utilities are hidden, and can be shown using the link on the bottom of the search results page, showin 'x technical items'. When you search for tex or latex, the results will be all the applications that have tex or latex in their description, and are not technical items - that should be a list of all the editors that are capable of editing tex documents. When you are searching for tex live though, no applications are found, so technical items are displayed automatically instead of showing you an empty results page witha 'technical items' link on the bottom of the page.
Although some user-feedback , maybe a tip, or something saying that "no apps were found for 'tex live', showing all technical items" could improve the user experience.
