Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

I have installed the maverick fonts i.e. ttf-ubuntu-font-family in my lucid 64 bit.
i can do ctrl+shift+u20b9 in xchat,abiword,gedit, web browser to type India Rupee symbol - ₹
But this is not working in open office

Abhijit Navale, thank you for reporting this bug and helping make Ubuntu better. In Ubuntu 10.10, LibreOffice Calc I clicked Insert -> Special Character... -> Font dropdown box Ubuntu -> Subset dropdown box Currency Symbol -> U+20B9 -> OK button.

This also works in OpenOffice 3.2.1 in Ubuntu 10.10. Have you updated your version 10.04 of Ubuntu (using update manager)?

Please remember that fonts are managed by the operating system, not but individual applications. What do you see when you use ctrl+shift+u20b9?
