Bug Description
Binary package hint: xkeyboard-config
Asked here first: https:/
The bug is, the image in the "Show Current Layout" is not refreshing after updating the keymapping data (even after a reboot). The first image that was generated by XKB sticks as the "Show Current Layout" image.
Ubuntu 10.10 64-bit Desktop

sudo rm -f /var/lib/xkb/* does the trick. When a geometry file from which these .xkm files are being generated is newer than the .xkm file, remove this .xkm file and it will be regenerated,
This process can be triggered by gnome-keyboard- properties and friends or at startup of the machine.
