[edgy] package list loses focus when I mark a package for deletion

Bug Description

Every now and then disk space becomes scarce and I do this:

1. start Synaptic
2. filter by status
3. choose installed packages
4. sort by size
5. walk though the package list in order, removing those packages I do not need.

It used to be convenient: keep pressing Down, press Delete every now and then.

In Edgy, the Delete key causes the package list to lose keyboard focus. I press down a few times out of habit, and the focus moves to the sidebar, changes the filtering, and I have to start from the very beginning.

Same by me. This annoying loss of focus also happens if you mark to install some package, that is dependend on some other packages. A window appears to confirm the installation of these extra packages. After you click "OK" the list of the packages loses focus.

I have had this problem with edgy and now I have it in feisty (beta). In dapper the list of packages never lost focus.

It's not really a bug, but it's very annoying. Please fix it. Thanks.

Same here with gutsy, but not only for deletion - I use the package list with the keyboard to scroll and find packages to install, upgrade or delete, but any action (I use space to mark for install) throws the keyboard focus to the toolbar and then I have to tab back to the package list, through all the toolbar actions, the sidebar, the sidebar buttons and finally to the package list where I can continue to move down with my cursor.

very annoying.

Edgy and Gutsy are EOL.
Does this bug still appear in latest Ubuntu? (9.10)

No, Karmic (9.10) is fine: I can clean up my packages by alternately pressing down Del and Down arrow.
