Belay this - we're going to drop the "trash by dropping off the
launcher" use cases altogether. For the moment, dropping off the
launcher is a noop unless whatever you drop on knows how to handle a
.desktop file drop.

The only ways to remove a launcher are: right click and uncheck "Pin to
launcher", and drop on the Trash.

I'm reading old bugmail, so this might already be resolved, but we've
abandoned the idea of "drop off for delete" altogether, so there should
be no (x) emblem on the icon when it is dragged off the launcher.
