position markers on rulers do not clear

Bug Description
The markers on the rulers (i.e. the small arrows which mark the x and y co-ordinates of the position of the mouse cursor) accumulate on screen (i.e. they do not clear). Switching to another window and switching back temporarily fixes the problem. See attached picture for illustration.
