Thinkpad X41 - SRST failed errno=-16 no boot with install media

Binary package hint: linux-image

Hardware: Thinkpad X41 2525-F8G with hitachi htc426040 disk drive. Controller is intel ich6-m with an marvel 88sa8040 p-ata bridge.
Tryed install media: ubuntu i386 desktop 10.10, 10.04. unity netbook 10.10, 10.04, alternate 10.10
After setup screen an a short boot the system is dead, without quiet i see 3 times. Can deliver a foto but no logs cause it is not possible to get a live system up.
ata1: port is slow to respond, please be patient (Status 0x90)
ata3: SRST failed (errno=-16)
Thinkwiki told that this hardware runs well with kernel 2.6.15 and up, this seems not to be true

Meantime i have partitioned and formatted the harddisk with an usb adapter on my 10.04 desktop. Will try to install on the thinkpad with this adapter to get more infos for you.

The machine did not boot if some kind of harddisk is inserted, but did not boot any kind of operating system, their setup or from a sideway installed harddisk. This looks like a defective hardware on the board. Marking this bug as invalid.
