Hi, I've installed the linux-alsa-driver-modules package (via command line)

reboot and now the headphone is mute and the speakers are working, even with the jack plugged.

Update:

I've removed the line I had added to alsa-base.conf
options snd-hda-intel model=asus-mode2
and now we are back to 1st state: Plug headphone and no sound at all

and I don't know if this helps, but last time (10.04) I solved the bug with this thread, but didn't work now.

Hi, I got my headphone working with maverick. For those who want also to solve this problem, I got the solution from:

In my case I used this option
options snd-hda-intel model=asus-mode3

and I also had to create the alsa-driver symbolic link as described in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/184314/comments/21

The combination of the load module and the symbolic link worked, each one of these solution alone doesnt solve the problem. I hope you guys take care of this on future version of ubuntu.

This is a pulseaudio bug, still present on 11.10

As a workaround edit /usr/share/pulseaudio/alsa-mixer/paths/analog-output-headphones.conf :

gksu gedit analog-output-headphones.conf

Than search for and comment this line like here:

[Jack_InputDevice]
#code = Headphone

I have the same problem, however I don't have this line in my file..
Any ideas of how I could solve it?
I tried to add the line, but it didnt help
