Hi Omer,
As described in the bug description, this issue happens when I plug in iphone 3GS to the USB port. I gets stuck in an infinite loop attempting to opening window that say "starting file manager." The window don't ever open, but the longer the loop goes, the more that fill up the task bar. After the iphone is unplugged, the "window" in the task bar go away, one by one.

Hope this helps.

Hi,
I'm also affected by this bug. I posted my report on another bug wich seems related : https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/580177/comments/3, Bug #580177.
My stacktrace is very similar.
I considered reporting here as the other bug isn't active since may (and is probably a duplicate, as bug #657351)

I am running Ubuntu 10.10 32bits with the latest updates.

The bug occurs when i plug in my 1st gen Iphone. Bug buddy is launched, unable to make a useful bug report, i close it, Nautilus is relauched, recrash, etc... until unplugging my iphone.

Ho, and before upgrading from 10.04 to 10.10, I had the exact same behaviour : an infinite loop of "starting file manager" filling up the task bar. I think the crash is handled differently but the bug remains.

Chamila, could you boot Ubuntu-10.10 from a USB/CD and then plug-in your iPhone and see if the problem happens in that case too

I have the same problem in Natty Narwhal (when I logging into Classic Ubuntu session, not in Unity). I attached syslog (it contains a lot of messages about segfaults in nautilus) and .crash files.
