Bug Description

I just installed Tomdroid 0.4 and installing + syncing with Tomboy Web worked perfectly... but only the first sync.

After that first sync I worked with my notes with Tomboy 1.4.0 and synced my changes. Changed notebook on a couple of notes, deleted one and made changes to the body of one.

Now when I re-synced with Tomdroid 0.4 I get:

Error

There was an error trying to parse your note collection. If you are able to replicate the problem, please contact us!

I am able to reproduce this. If I close Tomdroid and start it again and then sync I get the same error again.

Hi ThomasNovin,

Maybe this is the same problem as https://bugs.launchpad.net/tomdroid/+bug/657477. If yes, then wait for 0.4.1 which will come this evening.

For me it doesn't look the same but I will test 0.4.1 later this evening an report back after that.

Hi Thomas,

Bug lp:657477 is caused by a very strict format expected for unique note identifiers. This strict format is not enforced by Ubuntu One nor Tomboy-Online so we are relaxing the note guid requirements.

Did you create a new note using Tomboy Web? Notes created in tomboy should have guid that meet Tomdroid's expectations.

Hello

No I'm pretty certain all my notes are created with Tomboy on Ubuntu.

  • debug apk Edit (84.9 KiB, application/vnd.android.package-archive)

Hi Thomas,

Can you install the following apk on your device? It has debug and error logging enabled. It is signed by a development key so you might need to uninstall Tomdroid first (in Settings -> Applications -> Manage applications).

First, give it a shot and if you still see an error then:
- install the Android SDK
- plug-in your device
- run : adb logcat
- reproduce the problem
and post the resulting log

Build instructions are available in doc/dev/README or here:

Ok installed the apk (uninstalled old version first) then re-did the setup process. My notes were synced fine. I then did some changes to my notes (changed notebook on one, changed body on another, created a new) and that sync went fine as well. So right now I cannot reproduce.

Thanks Thomas for confirming that your problem is resolved by the provided apk.

Once 0.4.1 released, please re-test and report any problems here.

I dont think this is the same bug as bug #657477. I have the latest version from market and every time I try to sync my notes I get this error.

I've even uninstalled and re-installed tomdroid from my phone and I get the same error, the difference is now I don't have any notes on my phone...

Davim, can you open another ticket please? Also, could it be related to #534213? I'll be releasing 0.5 in launchpad before the android market and I would be glad if you could test it there.
