Hi,

Did you run:

# sudo /usr/lib/initramfs-tools/bin/rzscontrol /dev/ramzswap0 --init

before activating the swap partition???

Hi,

thanx for your fast reply.
No i didn't do this.

Now it works.

(In 10.04 this wasn't necessary, so i did'nt thought about it...)

Please note though, that running

# sudo /usr/lib/initramfs-tools/bin/rzscontrol /dev/ramzswap0 --init

brings ramzswap into a usable state for swapon but its seems it needs to be done after every reboot. :P

Hi Michael,

If you could also please test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.

I've installed http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/daily/2010-10-16-maverick/linux-image-2.6.36-999-generic_2.6.36-999.201010160905_i386.deb and got the same error after booting with that kernel and a "sudo swapon -p 100 /dev/ramzswap"

Michael

I didn't need to install anything beside the kernel I used in #6... I installed the header-package too, but I don't think this would make a difference

I have this problem as well, it will not enable automatically in Maverick 64-bit.

I also installed 2.6.36-02063601-generic. It seems the module has been renamed to "zram".
