Binary package hint: language-selector
Using Ubuntu 10.10 live CD on PowerPC (ibook G4).
I was switching language from english to french. Packages downloaded and setup normaly. Back to the language selector window, I've launch again selector for lang pack to remove english packages. Back to the language selector window, I applied French language to be system-wide. Then switch to the other tab (text) and again choose to apply system-wide. Then it crash.

I had a similar experience a couple of weeks ago. After a tip in some forum I added me to the 'users' group, and language-selector stopped crashing.
