Hi,

on my laptop it's the same. I have a Sony Vaio VPCS11C5E with a Nvidia GT310m graphics card. With Ubuntu 10.10 and the nouveau driver only the external monitor is working, the internal display remains black. I tried Opensuse 11.4 Milestone 2 (Gnome) as a Live-System and there the external monitor as well as the internal display works out of the box (and they are detected by 'System -> Monitors'). On Opensuse I can use them either in TwinView or I can put the same Desktop on each monitor.
