Bug Description

I have just installed Ubuntu 10.10 Netbook Edition.

The clock in the top right corner is always in 12-hour format, e.g. it shows "11:22 PM". I want it to display the time in 24-hour format, e.g. "23:22". There seems to be no way to configure this in Ubuntu 10.10 Netbook Edition.

When I right-click the clock I see a calendar, with below that an option "Time & Date Settings". The window that opens does not have an option to set the clock to 24-hour format. (Another strange thing is, that in this window I do have to enter the time in 24-hour format. That is inconsistent!).

Both left and right click on clock bring up the same window.

In the previous version of Netbook Edition right click allowed change from 12 to 24 time.

Same problem here - I can only set my locale and NTP servers. I tried changing it via Evolution, but it didn't take in the clock.

I don't quite agree this is a duplicate of Bug #579134. While yes, the clock settings should respect the locale setting, you should be able to override that preference by right-clicking and setting the clock applet's preferences.

Not very user friendly workaround:

First install dconf-tools via the terminal:
sudo apt-get install dconf-tools

Then run dconf-editor. In the configuration window that opens navigate to "/apps/indicators/datetime" and change time-format to "24-hour".

I must agree with Doc; this is not a duplicate of bug #579134. There is no reason whatsoever to constrain a user from toggling the time display format. Consider a military deployment, where English may be the locale but 24h may be the clock standard. Also, consider the user like me, who simply prefers the 24h clock format, but wants everything else in standard English (American) format.

This is a straightforward new bug. The Desktop edition works fine. The Netbook edition does not. fix it please. This includes the loss of the weather icon and data in the top bar. Fix it please.

Many thanks for resolving these bugs soonest.

Same here... Just installed 10.10 Netbook Edition and I can't change the clock to the 24hr format. Also the weather and location features of 10.04 clock have gone, as has the link between the clock's calendar and Evolution's calendar - if I double click on a date in the calendar, nothing happens now. These may seem like small losses of functionality but when you're used to them, no longer having them is disappointing. Seriously considering going back to 10.04.
