Bug Description

In Rhythmbox, I can import songs from my third generation iPod Nano just fine. However, here's the problem: Whenever I go to sync songs from the Rhythmbox library to the iPod (in particular ones that have been purchased on the Ubuntu One Music Store) and go to play them on the iPod, the iPod trying to play them is stuck at 0:00, as though it is paused, even though it shows me that it's playing.

And for iPod Classic. Worked fine prior to Maverick upgrade.

Running Rhythmbox from the command line, I get the following output (repeated at least once for each track) when adding tracks to the iPod:

** (rhythmbox:9198): CRITICAL **: itdb_splr_validate: assertion `at != ITDB_SPLAT_UNKNOWN' failed

Also, when looking at the listings for the artist in Rhythmbox, affected albums whose titles begin with "The" appear under "T" rather than under the first word after "T". So to give an example, albums called "The Avalanche" and "The B.Q.E." added before this bug appear under "A" and "B" respectively, while "The Age of Adz" appears under "T". Suggests something is going awry with writing to the iPod's database.

Basically on my iPod Classic, once the song is on the ipod the extension is removed
i.e. in the Rhythmbox library, when you look at the file info, the filename is "xxxxx-xxxxxxxx.mp3" but when you look at the file info for the song once its synced to the iPod its just like "xxxxx-xxxxxxx. "

Changed in rhythmbox (Ubuntu):

I see similar behavior using Rhythmbox to copy files to a device running Android 2.2.

Sounds similar to the bug I reported #659244. I can copy mp3s to the iPhone, and play iPhone mp3s through rhythmbox, but I can't play them on the iPhone.

Confirmed on Samsung Moment Android 2.1 device. Files are not recognized as media files in the browser and show up the same way an unknown filetypes. Possible file corruption during syncing?
