Bug Description

Binary package hint: xorg

Unfortunately, I can't really provide much more information...

After I've been logged in for a while (usually at least a day), the display may suddenly go mostly black with a few random horizontal lines (looks kind of like if the output frequency is completely wrong). If I'm using a connected display, rather than the laptop screen, it loses all signal and asks me to check the cable.

The only fix I've found is to reboot. I am able to switch to virtual terminal 1 (Ctrl+Alt+F1). The display there is also corrupted, although some text will show up (generally in the lower right corner, but it does not display everything; the most recent lines are not included there, but it will scroll). I log in as myself and sudo reboot. Obviously, everything is back to normal when the OS finished booting.

I don't know if it's helpful (or even relevant), but Xorg.failsafe.log ends with this:

It just happened again and I noticed a message about a timeout (510 ms, I think) waiting for a GPU reset. I don't remember the exact text; the machine hard-crashed and rebooted before I could write it down.
