Bug Description
Readahead's README.Debian file says that readahead should not be used on NFS mounts, and indeed it greatly slows down the boot. Yet there is no easy or elegant way to disable it; uninstalling the package is impractical because ubuntu-desktop depends on it.
Ideally, the init script should consult a file in /etc/default/ before running.

Thanks for the report; I've fixed this by allowing the /etc/readahead files to be deleted to disable the readahead phases.
