Bug Description

When running multiple workspaces, selecting the running audio player from the sound preferences dropdown (the volume indicator) causes the audio player window to open on the workspace to the right.

By way of example, with Rhythmbox running but minimised while on Workspace 1, selecting "Ryhtmbox" from the volume control will cause the Rhythmbox window to open on Workspace 2.

In addition, when running Compiz and Compiz Cube with 4 workspaces, selecting whilst viewing Workspace 4 will cause the application window to open on Workspace 1 (one logical workspace right).

I think this bug belongs with the window manager, it seem now though in Natty to be fixed ( with all the good work going on in Compiz )

It actually belongs with the application. According to Sam (compiz) the banshee window should unmap and remap.

I couldn't reproduce this in Maverick with either the new (self-compiled) or old compiz (from repository). How weird. Can we have detailed steps to reproduce this?

I see this behaviour on two separate machines. Both are running 10.10, fully patched: 2.6.35-24-generic x86_64. One is an HP Pavillion DV6-model laptop, the other is a custom-built desktop with dual monitors. Both machines use nVidia video cards.

Versions:
compiz, compiz-core, compiz-gnome, compiz-plugins: 1:0.8.6-0ubuntu9.1
compiz-fusion-plugins-extra: 0.8.6-0ubuntu1
compiz-fusion-plugins-main: 0.8.6-0ubuntu2
x-server-xorg: 1:7.5+6ubuntu3
x-server-xorg-core: 2:1.9.0-0ubuntu7.3

Compiz settings:
Cube enabled, 4 workspaces (laptop), 5 workspaces (desktop)

To recreate on either machine:
1: Ensure Rhythmbox is not running in the background
2: Select Rhythmbox from the volume-control applet
3: Rhythmbox application window opens one logical workspace right

Once opened, if music is played then paused, using the volume applet will cause Rhythmbox to re-display it's window on whichever desktop the window was last opened on, so if it is moved after the first open, it will stay on the "right" desktop.

Hmm, so this is Rhythmbox's issue, not Banshee's? Could you try reproducing it
with Banshee just to check, please?

You are correct - this behaviour only occurs with Rhythmbox and I cannot recreate it with Banshee.

In my case, it actually opens one workspace down, not right. I've got a 3x3 grid, and if I open it in workspace 6, it actually opens in workspace 9.
