Cannot drag and drop applications into the launcher

Using the latest version of Unity on Maverick (release version) You can't drag and drop applications from locations such as /usr/bin onto the launcher, in fact you should be able to drag any application onto the launcher to add it, rather than having to open the application and then pin the application to the dock.

for drag n drop there is bug 600735 though we could edit bug 635033 to focus on right click menu (if its in scope).
