Bug Description

Since migration to kubuntu 10.10 RC, kwin composing suspended on login
ALT+SHIFT+F12 restore composing

Hardware : ATI rmobility Radeon X2300, using open source radeon driver
Workaround : KDE system setting (Desktop Effects...Advanced...Disable functionality checks).

Ubuntu maverick (development branch)

Added kubuntu ppa for update to KDE 4.5.2 => no change

this happens to me too. I can enable desktop effects in control center, log out, immediately log back in, and effects are disabled again. weak.

While we appreciate your issue, it would be better if it was tracked at https://bugs.kde.org, so that the KDE developers can deal with this speedily and have direct communication with you as the reporter for more effective debugging.
