Please be sure to confirm this issue exists with the latest development release of Ubuntu. ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily/current/ . When I boot the "maverick-alternate-amd64.iso 07-Oct-2010 16:47" image from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily/current/, I do not see the "unknown BIOS" error message.
