I have the same problem (also with a Mighty Mouse) since upgrading to Maverick (final). the workaround (restarting the bluetooth daemon) doesn't solve the problem for me. I also tried to `killall bluetooth-applet` and then restart the applet, without success. I haven't tried yet reloading all the bluetooth kernel modules, will do this next.

@patrick in my setup, restarting the service immediately gets the mouse working (of course if not paired with the mac). Done several updates, but problem persists, so I'm making an alias to the restart :-)

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the stable release - Oneiric Ocelot. It would help us greatly if you could test with it so we can work on getting it fixed. You can find out more about it at http://www.ubuntu.com/download . Thanks again and we appreciate your help.
