Bug Description

Binary package hint: amarok

This is a downstream report for kde bug 245648
Using Maverick rc + amarok + ifuse+libgpod+libimobildevice, the iphone/ipod touch appears as a plain "apple ipod" (not the real custom name like "Joey's iphone") with 0 track.
It used to work well in lucid.

Please note :
1/ Reverting back to Lucid's packages libmtp8 & libmtp-dev
2/ Installing libimobiledevice0 from Lucid
just brings the ipod touch back in amarok with all its tracks !

The bug affects me, the workaround doesn't.

When installing libimobiledevice0 from lucid, i get an error that the package is attempting to overwrite packages from libimobiledevice1 ( /usr/share/hal/fdi/information/20thirdparty/31-apple-mobile-device.fdi ). The install fails after delivering this message. I'm skeptical of removing libimobiledevice1, since so much on Ubuntu 10.10 seems to rely on it.

I don't see which version of amarok you're using, I'm using 2.4.0

Problem is not fixed yet with KDE 4.7.0 and Amarok 2.4.3 (Oneiric Beta 1)

libimobiledevice0 not needed anymore under Ubuntu Natty.
libmtp8 1.0.2 (lucid version) still needed though

Well, a more convenient by-pass is to use any libmtp version (e.g natty's) BUT disable MPT support in amarok options !
