Bug Description

Binary package hint: pianobar

== FFE INFO ==

Regression potential is minimal. This package was not shipped in a previous version of Ubuntu. As of today, the package does not function at all due to API changes.

The version shipped in Ubuntu was never officially released upstream. Version 2010.08.21-1, which was in Debian for the past month, has been widely used without problems. Supporting pre-release git snapshots (like that currently in the archive) will be more difficult in the future. The only change between 2010.08.21-1 and 2010.10.07-1 is a protocol fix. The changelog for upstream can be found at http://github.com/PromyLOPh/pianobar/commits/master.

I have personally tested this package in Ubuntu Maverick.

Changelog entries since current maverick version 0+git20100420.3072c5a-1build1:

pianobar (2010.10.07-1) unstable; urgency=high

  * New upstream version.
    - XMLRPC api version bump (v28) (closes: #599338)

pianobar (2010.08.21-1) unstable; urgency=low

  * Initial upstream release.
  * Remove code to recreate the upstream tarball, we're not packaging
    snapshots.
  * Update maintainer, unset DMUA.
  * Adapt packaging for upstream switch to Make from cmake
  * Change repository location of Debian packaging.
  * Bump standards version, no changes needed.

Also reported upstream. This renders the package unusable.
