/sbin not within the $PATH in custom gdm scripts

Bug Description

Binary package hint: gdm

When using a gdm PostLogin script, the /sbin folder is missing in the $PATH variable. This doesn't make sense as for example e2fsck - which lies in the /sbin folder - cannot be found and any custom script that checks an ext2/3/4 filesystem at login time, fails.

The bug exists in Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, where custom gdm scripts seem to be in a big mess anyway (see: #606619).

How to reproduce:

1) set up the gdm script /etc/gdm/PostLogin/Default

2) within this script, echo the contents of the $PATH variable

Actual result is:

/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin

Expected result:

/sbin should be part of the $PATH string.

Thanks for the report, it has been some time without any response or feedback in this bug report and we are wondering if this is still an issue for you with the latest release of Ubuntu the Natty Narwhal, May you please test with that version and comment back if you're still having or not the issue? Please have a look at http://www.ubuntu.com/download to know how to install that version. Thanks in advance and sorry for the late response.
