at all - no sound. i could manipulate volume, sound settings - sound device is visible, but no sound (no output). possible that problem could be related to alsa sound /libasound and plugin. difficult to say, maybe advice how to check. i am using dell e4300. after rebooting is ok.

Use the following link to upgrade to the latest alsa drivers. See if that solves the problem.

Leszek disregard my last comment for now. Your apport report says you are using Lucid but your comment says you are using Maverick. Clarify which one you are really using? And also can you reproduce this bug in the firefox search engine? If so give me the steps to reproduce it myself. Thanks!

It is Maverick upgraded from Lucid. Apport says it is Distro 10.10 (so - Maverick) whilst installation media 10.04LTS :)

I have quite new ALSA drivers
cat /proc/asound/version --> Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.23. and seems problem was solved but I am not sure if this thanks to ALSA update or thanks to new update files for Distro (by Update Manager).

I don't think any ALSA update would have fixed it. It was probably another update that did the trick. If it starts acting up again report back. For now I am marking the bug as "invalid".
