Bug Description
Binary package hint: lirc
Sorry, not sure if that is the exactly correct package.
The correct kernel modual loads: lirc_mceusb
lircd loads ok
The IR tray icon shows 3 mce remotes when I only have one.
I've tried using the tray icon to configure all the remotes but when I try to use the remote with an application such as vlc nothing happens
I tried testing the remote with irw but when I press buttons nothing is output to the terminal.
I had this remote working with Kubuntu 10.4 after having added the device id (Bus 007 Device 002: ID 0609:0338 SMK Manufacturing, Inc.) in the drive source and recompiling. This device is now in the lirc 0.8.7~pre3 source included in Kubuntu 10.10

We need more info in order to advance this bug.
First, what is the "IR Tray"?. This is certainly not part of the lirc package.
Secondly, testing with mode2(1) will reveal if this is about the kernel not delivering timing ingo, or about a lircd failure.
Third, if the problem persists it needs to be checked against the latest lirc 0.9.4c and also an updated kernel.
If you are still interested in this bug, could you please do this testing?
