Stop button restarts playback instead of stopping

Binary package hint: gnome-mplayer

When launching a media file with gnome-mplayer, pressing the stop button should stop the current item (as opposed to pausing in-place). Instead, the current media item restarts. clicking again restarts the item again.

This has been fixed for awhile in newer versions of gnome-mplayer

same with 1.0.5-1 in Lubuntu 12.04. Just booted up 12.10 daily in VirtualBox (1.0.6-1) and stop does indeed stop. However, it immediately plays about the first second of the track. it starts from this accelerated position when hitting play again. admittedly this is a relatively short 1 minute long song, but that shouldn't matter.

If this bug was fixed with 1.0.6-1 in Quantal, this bug should not be upstreamed. However, the bug that Walter is mentioning seems to be a different bug, and should be filed separately.

as suggested above, this is fixed in 1.0.6-1 and a new bug created. please confirm and move upstream:
