Fonts in firefox showing as symbols

On certain sites, such as Google, the fonts which should be arial, sans-serif according to CSS, are appearing as symbols or Greek letters. This is not the entire page and typically shows up on buttons but it's not exclusive to buttons.

I copied and pasted some of the text that should read "Fri" from my iGoogle page (in the weather forecast) and pasted it into a text file in gedit. It's attached if that helps.

Thanks, but that's not a bug. Your Google profile is set to a language other than English..

Fair enough. However, it only happens in Ubuntu Maverick in Firefox. I can switch my language setting which resets things but it just goes right back. Chrome and Firefox are fine in Lucid and in Windows with my Google account and Chrome is fine in Maverick. Additionally it happened on another site but I don't remember what it is. I'll amend this bug if I find it again.
