Issue: Vinagre poor scaling performance
This issue has existed ever since Ubuntu switched to shipping Vinagre.
Performance of VNC is poor when scaling remote screen to fit within local screen.
About 1 screen refresh in 4 seconds. If I disable scaling, I may reach 1 screen refresh per second if things go well.
The "Remmina" GTK+ Remote Desktop Client has tremendously good performance and fine feature set.
I have switched to it and am getting near instant screen refresh performance.
There really is only one thing a remote desktop viewer needs to do well, and that is provide an experience for the user which closely matches directly manipulating the remote desktop. Vinagre is far too slow for VNC protocol to be considered a usable tool for a default Ubuntu install.
Please replace Vinagre with Remmina in future Ubuntu releases.
