Bug Description

Binary package hint: telepathy-haze

When I right click on a Yahoo! contact and change the alias it will change the name, but will revert back to the original contact name once empathy is shut down, and opened again. All the other messenger protocols remember the user modified alias names except for Yahoo!, so that's why I reported it on telepathy-haze. Everything is up to date on a fresh maverick install as of this post.

Please read more carefully before declaring something a duplicate. This bug refers to the aliases of *contacts*, not of accounts. In other words, if Fred Flintstone, whose Yahoo account name is yabbadabba, has two contacts named Barney Rubble and Mr Slate, then according to bug #404022 he will be unable to change his alias from the displayed default "yabbadabba", but according to this *different* bug he ALSO can't change his friends aliases from their displayed defaults "barney42" and "bossmanslate". So, as you see, two different bugs - though undoubtedly related.

I agree with eric that this bug is not a duplicate. Also I believe this is a regression. I used to use Empathy, had no issue, was on Pidgin for a while, and have come back to Empathy, and now have the issue described.

I'm running the latest empathy on Arch linux, and have the same problem there.
